Wano Iljitsch, georgischer Komponist, * Gori 6. 4. 1908, ✝ Tomsk 14. 8. 1970; studierte in Moskau bei N. J. Mjaskowskij. Seine Oper »Die große Freundschaft« (1947, revidiert 1960) war der Anlass für die verschärfte Kontrolle musikalischen Schaffens in der UdSSR (Beschluss vom 10. 2. 1948). 1948 wurde Muradeli verbannt, 1958 rehabilitiert, seit 1959 war er Sekretär des Moskauer Komponistenverbandes. Seine Werke (Opern, Orchesterwerke, Chöre, Lieder, Bühnen- und Filmmusik) sind von Pathos und propagandistischen Effekten geprägt.
